Home Birth Midwifery Care

One hour prenatal visits with a two hour initial visit are provided at my office in Eatonville, WA. Each visit is an opportunity for you to ask questions, receive evidence based information about pregnancy, labor and birth topics, and check on the wellbeing of yourself and your baby. The prenatal visit schedule is every 4 weeks until 28 weeks, every 2-3 weeks until 36 weeks, and weekly from 36 weeks until your birth (a home visit will be scheduled between 36-37 weeks). Once labor is established, the birth team will arrive at your house to provide labor support. Waterbirth is supported and encouraged as a form of natural pain relief. We stay at your house for 3-4 hours after the birth to monitor vitals for you and baby. A full newborn exam is performed. We ensure that you and your partner eat a nourishing meal, you have an empty bladder, the laundry is started, and the birth tub is drained and dismantled. Your house will be as clean as when we arrived! Postpartum is a sacred yet challenging time. I offer a unique model of postpartum care that offers more home visits and increased support. I will visit you at home on day 1, day 3, and day 5 to prepare meals, do light housekeeping, and prepare herbal teas and baths for your healing journey. Visits are also scheduled at week 2, week 4, and week 6.

Birth Center Midwifery Care

I am now privileged to provide out of hospital midwifery care at The Birthing Inn in Tacoma and The Birth Cottage in Enumclaw. I believe that parents should have choice in where they deliver their baby. Birth centers in the state of Washington must undergo rigorous licensing processes to meet standards set forth by the Commission for the Accredidation of Birth Centers. For more information, please follow the links below. The Birthing Inn: https://thebirthinginn.com The Birth Cottage: https://www.cottagebirth.com

Hospital Support

I can support your planned hospital birth in the role of a monitrice. Clinical care is provided to you at home (e.g., fetal heart tone assessment, dilation checks) to assist you in deciding when to go to the hospital. When you arrive at the hospital, your monitrice will solely act as your “doula”, providing labor support through birth and immediate postpartum. This service includes up to 3 prenatal and 2 postpartum visits. Monitrice Fee: $3,000
